[NEWS] 091127 Officially Confirmed! Xiah Junsu is Casted in “Musical Mozart!”

The musical which is scheduled to open in 2010 “Musical Mozart!” casts TVXQ member Xiah Junsu (real name: Kim Junsu) as one of the character.

Xiah Junsu is planned to role as the genius musician who’s aspiring for a freedom, Mozart.
A representative from EMK Musical Company, Um Hong-hyun said, “When the original author Sylvester Levay visited both the director and Xiah Junsu the first time for a meeting, he’s attracted by Xiah Junsu’s commitment and passion in his musical performance.” he added, “He has an excellent ability and meets the expectation of Mozart character the original author tries to reflect, thus he’s decided as the final cast.”
Xiah Junsu will make alternate appearance as Mozart on stage with another casts namely Kim Tae-kyung, Park Gun-hyung, and Park Eun-tae. (T/N: yes, there are 4 musical actors that will be roled as Wolfgang Mozart)

“Mozart!” is a collaboration work by the world playwright Michael Kunze and Grammy-winning composer Sylvester Levay, which was having its first musical drama in Vienna, Austria. The musical event will be opened on January 20 to February 21st at Sejong Center.

TVXQ member Xiah Junsu (Kim Junsu) has been cast as the lead role in the 2010 production 'Mozart!'

Xiah Junsu plays the role of genius musician Mozart, who yearns for freedom, and plays alongside musical stars Lim Tae Kyung, Part Gun Hyung, and Park Eun Tae.

Xiah Junsu's side stated, "We were thinking of a new change for him amidst his busy schedule so we looked through several good musical performances and we decided on 'Mozart!' that possessed the performance qualities and the audience attraction qualities of a perfect performance which required slight changes in his Japanese schedule."

The production side stated, "When the original writer Sylvester Levay visited Korea, he met with the casting crew and Xiah Junsu once and then he fell for Xiah Junsu's willingness and passion. The original writer stated that Xiah Junsu's superior skills would make him a great Mozart and we decided to cast him as the main role."

They also said, "We hope the fans give their love and support for Xiah Junsu, who has already been noted for his great skills through various activities, for his first challenge as a role in a musical."

Musical 'Mozart!', which will begin on January 20th, 2010 in the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, is an Austrian musical written by world renown playwright Michael Kunze and Grammy Award winner Sylvester Levay.

[TRANS] 091127 Xiah Junsu Musical Casting News Makes 'Mozart' Sold Out!

All the tickets that were on sale were sold out with the news that Xiah Junsu would be performing. The production side stated, "We will be having a second round of ticket sales in mid December."

'Mozart!' is a production that details the short yet complicated life of genius musician Mozart. As a musical written by world renown playwright Michael Kunze and Grammy Award winner Sylvester Levay, it was performed in Austria, Germany, Sweden, Japan and Hungary.

The production is filled with the stories of Mozart's yearnings for freedom and love, and those of the people around him. Various characters, such as Leopold, the twisted father who uses his son to satisfy his own needs, archbishop Colorado, who is the rival and tutor of Mozart, as well as lover Constanche, who embraced and loved Mozart's brilliance and humanity, will grace the stage.

A rotating stage with stairs, music that infuses rock and classical, as well as 500 extravagant outfits await viewers. The musical will be performed between January 19th and February 21st next year.
