[NEWS] Korean Entertainment: Girl Groups Going Up While Boy Bands Going Down?

It’s the third season of 2009 and many incidents happened in the Korean Entertainment industry, there are good news and shocking news. The one has most people paid attention to is the increasing amount of popularity for girl groups while the boy groups suffer in misfortune.

Lucky girl groups in the third season, fighting for the highest amount of popularity.

All the girl groups are getting popular one after another which is something that never happened in the Korean Entertainment Industry before. Right after Girls’ Generation’s <Tell me your Wish> dominated all the music charts in Korea, then the new girl group 2NE1 once again pushed the girl group popularity to another greater height with their song <I Don’t Care>.

<I Don’t Care>, being the first hit song of 2NE1’s single not only showed all their fans the real 2NE1, and also took down the most popular music chart for 5 weeks continuously.

Right after tha, girl group Brown Eyed Girls had also joining the fight. To attract all fans attention with <Abracadabra> was relesed from their 3rd album in July. On top of that, girl group Kara had also reached the top of SBS’s Popular Song chart with thteir first hit <Wanna>.

Actually in a span of 3 months there were already 4 successful girl groups that took down all the top music charts in Korea, like Girls’ generation (SNSD), 2NE1, Kara and Brown Eyed Girls.

In the 3rd season, brand new girl groups’ performances were especially good.

Former Wonder Girls member Hyun Ah’s new group 4Minute had released their new single <Muzic> and attracted much attention. The performance for T-ara was also great, and their popularity increased rapidly with their song <Time to Love> which also has good selling results so obviously T-ara has also grown to a popular group.

F(x) who has just debuted this early September had drawn much attention with good vocals plus an attractive image, the future for f(x) is unlimited.

Troubles filled the months of the 3rd season, boy groups suffered.

In July, Dong Bang Shin Ki members Hero JaeJoong, Micky Yoochun, Xiah Junsu filled a lawsuit against their agency company SM Entertainment. However, they have yet to receive a satisfying answer from court. Since Hero JaeJoong, Micky Yoochun, Xiah Junsu and SM Entertainment are in the midst of the lawsuit, therefore all Dong Bang Shin Ki activities in Korea had to stop.

Right after that, G-Dragon from Big Bang was also involved in a plagiarizing issue. 2PM was also in trouble with their leader Jaebum leaving the group while leaving Korea too.

On top of that, bog group SS501 had also met misfortune with their leader Kim HyunJoong diagnosed with H1N1 in Japan, thus affected their group activities. However he had recovered and returned back to Korea.

Kang In from Super Junior was also involved in a lawsuit regarding the assault issue. From this he has apologized, “As a public person, being involved in a lawsuit is really unforgivable, and to show a bad example I am really sorry about this, especially to all the people who care for me…”

Having to say that this 3rd season is the bad month for Korean boy groups is absolutely correct, therefore hope that all the boy groups in Korea could move forward and achieve all success with a healthier image in the next coming season.
